David C Cook: Forensic Faith for Kids & Casemakers Academy {Review}

For the past several weeks we have been learning how to be detectives with the Case Makers Academy’Forensic Faith for Kids provided by David C Cook.

David C Cook  is a site where you will find numerous Christian resources such as books, crafts, curriculum, Bible Studies and more, for men, woman and children. If you are looking for something for small groups or large, or individuals, they have quite a bit. The book we received, Forensic Faith for Kids, does not use the King James version of the Bible,  which as you know would always be my preference, however it is written in such a way that you can use the KJV if it is your choice. (it will always be mine).

I did not realize until we received the book “Forensic Faith for Kids“, that the author J. Wallace Warner had also written the Forensic Faith book that our pastor used as the basis for a series he taught to our adult Sunday School class! My husband saw the book and mentioned that he thought it was, so I messaged our pastor with a picture of the adult version we found online and he said yes, it was!

When I saw it, I thought that the cover of this book was very engaging. The puppy, the baseball, a notebook and the Bible were attractive, and it caught my boy’s eyes. The first to read it has been “The Artist,” as he is very quick to grab new books when the come into the house.

As I said above, my Sunday School class was taught a series based on J. Warner Wallace’s book forensic Faith. Until now, I did not realize their were books for kids with the same title and theme of his adult books, but I’m sure glad there are!

About the authors:

J. Warner and Susie Wallace have been training young people in the church setting for over a decade. J. Warner is a cold-case homicide detective who has been featured on Dateline, FOX News, TruTV and other crime related television shows. A former atheist,
he is the author of Cold-Case ChristianityGod’s Crime Scene, and Forensic Faith. He has a master’s degree in theology, and is founder of ColdCaseChristianity.com. He was an  {“angry atheist”, hostile to Christianity and largely dismissive of Christians.

However, when J. Warner took time to be honest with himself, he had to admit that he never took the time to examine the evidence for the Christian Worldview without the bias and presupposition of naturalism.}

Susie has a master’s degree in speech pathology and co-writes (and edits) all the kids books in this series. J. Warner and Susie have four children and live in southern California. J. Warner Wallace in fact, was an atheist who then used his own investigative talents to

This is a paperback book, with 134 pages and 8 chapters. To accompany the book Forensic Faith for Kids, we were also given access to the Casemakers Academy, which will give your child more informational tools in learning how to effectively tell others about their faith in Jesus. This website has a short (generally around 5 minutes) video for each chapter in th book, and downloadable activity and fill in sheets, designed to hone their investigative skills.

In the book Forensic Faith for Kids, we meet Daniel, Hannah and Jason, three friends who find a lost corgi puppy while they are working at a fundraiser car wash. Detective Jeffries helps them hone their investigative skills as they try to determine where the pup came from, and who she belongs to. By the end of the book (if not sooner) your children will have figured out the mystery, and also learned how to stand for their faith when challenged. I like the format of this book and the added access to the online Casemakers Academy. The two together make a very good, complete package, and the access is through a link given in the book.

I really like to put good books into the hands of my children, and when there is an added interactive component, I like it even more, so this package certainly fits the bill for me!

You can see below that it fits the bill with “The Artist,” as well.
