As it happens, I had already planned to go out and do my shopping for my freezer meals for the next month, so out I went, immediately after the news conference. Look what I encountered . . .
This is what it looked liked after we got out of the car:
And from our position in line:
Once we got in (about 20 minutes later) this is what it was like. Already.
Why, you ask? Because we know from experience that a “two week” restriction order means way more than two weeks. I hope your state is not being as badly restricted!

I chose the 8×10 Plaque print, and the one I chose for the two boys I still have at home is located here. My regular readers already know how much it means to me to have scripture products to use verses only from the King James Version, so it was good to find out that with CrossTimber, if the verse used is not from the KJV, they will change it for a small fee.
One of the things I love about this image is that it looks as if the verses are actually carved into the stones!
I also received the AmazingName Print Activity Sheets, which I chose to have done with my son who has special needs. He has really been loving doing the ones he can handle at this time!
As Juliet (Shakespeare) said, “What’s in a name?” However, Shakespeare also pointed out in his own life, if someone uses your name for something bad, they have involved your reputation. Names mean something. In my boys cases, one is from Greek and one from Scottish. After researching what the names mean in the language they come from, CrossTimber carefully searches for scripture which clearly represents the original meaning of the names. I think the verses chosen for my sons’ names fit perfectly, and I will be hanging this print in the hallway leading to their rooms so they will see it every morning when the come out, and every night when the are headed to bed.
When a friend was expecting a baby and had already chosen a name, her baby shower just happened to coincide with a review I was working on for CrossTimber, and I chose to use my review product for her. You can read about it here.
I love CrossTimber’s careful research, which is something I have no time or inclination to do. It also means something to me that this company is owned and operated by a homeschooling family. CrossTimber was started when John Dehnart was in his High School driver’s Ed class, and it’s a fun read!
This is a very well run company, and the products are BEAUTIFUL! Everyone who has seen them between this and my earlier review has just loved them.

We cancel subscriptions. We cancel appointments. But now, our society is deeply into a “cancel culture.” You differ from the politically correct part of society? Cancel! You refuse to come out in favor of what they want? cancel! Restaurants who won’t post and put up signs standing for certain causes? Red flags on YELP calling it a racist business. CANCEL! Stand for conservtive values? CANCEL! This is where we are today, folks. And it’s going to get worse with the election results, as the Democrat side is already postiong and writing columns stating there will be no reconciliation with Republican voters. Fasten your seatbelts, it’s going to be a bumpy ride!
And, stop.

I am reviewing this program as the student. My boys are nowhere near to being ready for this course, but I was very interested in it for myself. Being self-paced, I think it is perfect for the parent who was never taught this subject from a Christian world view, or from a real historical view.
While this course does teach tthings you would find in a high school course such as supply and demand, the stock market, monopoly and competition, it is also covering topics which apply to one’s own personal life. How much you earn, giving, saving, rent, paying your bills, etc . . .
The Economics Online Course Bundle also goes deep into the history of economics, government actions and the way they affect economics. One whole chapter covers Society and Morality, which looks deeply at the Judeo-Christian roots of free markets, moral absolutes as opposed to moral positivism. I like this, as I try to see everything from a Christian worldview.
This is not just a “read this chapter then answer some multiple choice questions” type of course. With the “log on, open and go” format, plus getting 12 month access to the online portion for a one semester course, I really can do this at my own pace, and I like that!
Required Materials:
Carson, Clarence, and Cleveland, Paul: Basic Economics, 4th ed. (includes the study guide).
Maybury, Richard: Whatever Happened to Penny Candy.
Bastiat, Frederic: The Law. Can be purchased from fee.org. (If you need a copy of The Law quickly, you can get a free PDF here: https://fee.org/resources/the-law/. Use the 2019 version pdf so the page numbers match)
I was SURE that we already owned a copy of “Whatever Happened to Penny Candy,” but we couldn’t find it so I ordered a copy. I bet that we’ll find it within a month of having purchased my copy, because that’s just how it works in this homeschool family! I also purchased a print copy of “The Law.” I realize I could have simply used the free PDF version, but I really prefer holding a book in my hands and turning the pages. But, that’s just me! I know plennty of people who prefer to read books on the computer, tablet or phone.
In this course bundle I received 12 month access for one student to the online portion of this one semester course, which is perfect for the homeschooled student, or for anyone (like me) who wants to learn the material, but on their own timeline. I am able to work it in around life, instead of trying to work life in between lessons.
I also received in the mail a physical copy of the textbook “Basic Economics, A Natural Law Approach to Economics, fourth edition.”
Once I familiarized myself with the online portion of the course, it wasn’t to difficult to use.

For each lesson there is a video episode, a guide and worksheet, an answer guide and Dig Deeper articles. There are also activities to do in many of the lessons.
This is a self pacing course, therefore each family can use it in whatever way works best for them.
A suggested schedule is:
Monday: Watch the episode and read the written exposition/breakout materials.
Watching one of the video adventures on the laptop:
Tuesday: Complete the optional activity, if there is one. Wednesday: Read the Dig Deeper articles, and/or conduct outside research. Thursday: Re-watch the episode, while reviewing the written materials. Friday: Complete the worksheet with short answers, and compare to the answer guide.
Here, you see an example of a couple things you will find sprinkled throughout the lessons:
The course ‘Bible Unearthed” from Drive Thru History® Adventures is very engaging! The video adventures are fun to watch and learn from. We will definitely be looking at learning from other Drive Thru History® Adventures in the future!

It’s been just about a month, and it was past time! My nails were growing out WAY too much, and though I had to wait until we could squirrel away enough to pay for them, I finally got to deal with them. Here is the result:

We received a one year family subscription to MathandAlgebra.com. This subscription includes these four complete math courses: Basic Math, Advanced Math, Pre-Algebra and Algebra.
Teacher Richard Fisher has developed an easy-to-use, functional, easily understood Mathematics teaching system. A combination of online and offline format, this program is very accessible to the student, using both video lessons and printable worksheets to bring the learning to them in a fun and easy way.
This program works in four steps:
Step one, watch the video. The video lesson has no distractions, just instructor Richard Fisher’s white board, on which he shows examples and demonstrates how to get to the solutions. As you can see below on the left, there are check marks for each completed lesson.
Watching the video:
Step two, print out and do the worksheet. The student does the work for each problem. “The Artist” does the work on a separate piece of paper before answering it on the worksheet.
Step three, take the quiz. At the end of each chapter, and then at the end of each course there will be a quiz.
Step four, earn badges!
“The Artist” began with fractions in Basic Math, as he has gone beyond whole number problems. This is something I like about Math & Algebra, the fact that we could begin where he is in math. He does have some learning delays, so being able to do this is a big help for him.
Once he got rolling, “The Artist” realized he could actually do this, he started getting up and completing his math for the day, sometimes before I woke up!
He has been doing very well on his own, with just Mr. Fisher teaching, and no additional attempts at teaching by me (which is good, since I’ve never been a lover of math!) At the beginning though, he was unsure, and was worried he was getting an answer wrong. I looked up the answer key on my side of the program, and asked what answer he had gotten. And then, when I told him that was the correct answer according to the key, his confidence jumped!
We really like this Math curriculum. The no distractions video lessons help him to see how to work the problems, and then the printable worksheets for him to do have cemented what “The Artist” is learning. As a result, he is willingly working on math, without any complaining at all. He is required to do any schoolwork before being allowed to use his Chromebook for anything else, or being allowed any video games, so the no complaining is a definite plus!
We will be continuing the use of this program for the entire year, and I am hopeful that he will complete all four courses!
