“Z” is For . . .

A whole bunch of words I have never even heard of! From The Phrontistery, you can find a list of unusual words (with definitions) beginning with any letter of the alphabet. For the letter “Z”, I found what looks like at least a couple of hundred, some of which I will give you below:

zabernism – misuse of military authority; bullying

zampone – stuffed pigs’ trotter sausage

zarf – ornamental holder for hot coffee cup

zeugma – use of a word to modify two or more words in different ways

zygoma – bony arch on the side of the skull

zuche – tree stump

So, if you are EVER stumped for a word beginning with “Z” (or any other letter of the alphabet), I would suggest you go take a look through The Phronistery and see what fun stuff you can find! 🙂

I have really enjoyed participating in the Blogging From A to Z April Challenge for the very first time, and hope to continue participating yearly! 🙂

“Y” is For . . .

YOU, my dear readers, for being so patient with the fact that I have had to get caught up on my A – Z blogging through April challenge twice now, due to being sick and forgetting until after I’d gone to bed for the night! I remembered late last night, and was already half asleep, so I just told myself to “remember to do both *Y* and *Z* sometime tomorrow”, which I am doing right now, before moving on to a review for a product that we’ve just now completed. More about that a little later in the day . . .

I appreciate all of YOU, my readers, for the feedback you give me, and for the simple fact that you think my little blog is worth following. It encourages me, as I attempt to hone my writing skills for possible future use as an income generator. YOU leave me great comments, which make me want to keep writing! In the past several months, I’ve written more than I have in the rest of the time this blog has existed, and because of YOU, I want to keep going. It’s been a fun time, and YOU make it even more fun! So, thank YOU! 🙂

“X” is For . . .

The “X-rays” I had the other day, before seeing my Podiatrist to discuss my upcoming surgery. I have very bad hammertoes, two on my left four and three on my right foot. So, In the 15th of May, I will be having surgery on both feet, after which I will be on a walker for a while, and then a cane. So, “X-rays this time around mean that everyone will be taking care of ME for a change! 🙂

“W” is For . . .

Weather, I think . . . and how different it is here in New Mexico than it was in Michigan. Back there, it was very humid, which means that during the winter, it would be bone chilling cold, and during the summer, it would be sweat like crazy hot. Here, though, it is the desert, so while we did have a couple of cold weeks during the winter, it was nowhere NEAR the bone chilling feeling I had in Michigan. In fact, even though I did have to buy a winter jacket (as my old one had gotten too large, and I gave it away before moving out here), I think I only needed to wear it five or six times this past winter. The rest of the time, I wore a zip up hoodie or a light spring/fall jacket. Also, I wore open toe shoes and sandals all winter. THAT was nice!

While my husband arrived here in the beginning of July, our kids and I arrived in the beginning of August. Between all of us, we’ve had that much experience of summer here in New Mexico, and we LIKE it! I used to laugh at people when they said things like “but it’s a DRY heat”, but now I realize that it truly does make a difference! Without the humidity, we don’t feel the heat as bad as we did in Michigan, although, because any sweat evaporates immediately, we don’t have the visual reminder that it is hot, and have to remind ourselves frequently to drink more water.

While we loved Michigan for it’s water, trees and other scenery, we love it here too, for the different weather, and a whole different kind of scenery. Everywhere we go, there is a different view of the beautiful Sandia Mountains, or the lava rocks all over the Petroglyph National Monument Park. The sunsets are so pretty, too!

We’ve been here since August, and it feels like home now.

Especially with such WONDERFUL WEATHER! 🙂

“V” is For . . .

VICTORIOUS! As in, I’m pretty sure I’ve gotten my a – z blog posts caught up with “V”, so I am victorious! Now, if I could just get VICTORY over everything else in my life, that would be a VERY good day, too! Of course, today I am also working to get VICTORY over the ever continuing Mount Wash-more, as well, along with a review post or two that are coming due. Wish me luck!

“U” is For . . .

Under the weather . . . I hate allergies, or colds, or sinus infections, whichever one it is that I have. I’m coughing like crazy, to the point that it really hurts, and my sinuses are hurting, and my head hurts. So there you have it, For the letter “U”, I’m posting that I’m “under the weather” . . .

“T” is For . . .

Testing and trials . . . I think God is putting me through tests and trials again . . . there are things going on in my life that are hard to deal with right now, and I’m having a difficult time trusting God because of them. There are days when I wonder if He really cares . . . I’m trying to have faith, but it isn’t always easy . . .

“S” is For . . .

Sick . . . apparently, somewhere along the line I missed a day in the blogging A – Z Challenge, and then I got SICK, and missed a couple of more days. So today, I’m going to get them caught up.

I’m sick . . . I don’t know if I have a cold, or if I have a sinus infection, or if I’m suffering from allergies. I don’t have a fever though, so I doubt it’s a cold or infection. There are things here that I’m getting my very first exposure to, allergens like mulberry and cottonwood, so my best guess is that it’s allergies. But, it’s definitely hitting very hard. I’ve been quite miserable for a few days. I’m hoping it will be better soon . . .

“R” is For . . .

rest and relaxation . . . both things I really (hey, there’s another “R” word!) need right now . . . Last week was such a busy week, and today I am working on the current version of Mount Wash-more, just got back from a doctor appointment and picking up yet another prescription, had to finish linking up a review (another “R” word, ha!), have to re-print something for a project “The Artist” needs to finish (because It’s a double-sided print and I did it wrong the first time), work on other school stuff, figure out what to fix for supper, and do a little bit of cleaning. Know what I’d much, much rather do?

Rest . . .

“Q” is For . . .

Quiet, which I will have in just a few minutes when the kids go off to bed. Don’t get me wrong, I love my kids very, very much, but sometimes, you just need some quiet. Here’s to it! 🙂
