Covid 19 “Stay at Home” Pantry Clean & Organize

I promised I’d show you the pantry fix this week, so here we go!

When I got started, my pantry was a disorganized mess. My kids just basically were shoving things in willy-nilly, which meant NOTHING was with whatever it should go with. By the time I was done, I dicovered we had several of a number of seasonings, for example.

Before:

So, I went to the Dollar Tree and bought baskets. Just these. This is all that I used. $14.00 worth of baskets from Dollar Tree. The vines (also from Dollar Tree) are for another project in the kitchen.

I made my kids help me pull every single thing out of the pantry. I totally forgot to take a picture of it all sitting on the kitchen table. I’m not tearing it back apart just for a picture.

But THIS is what it looks like after!

How long it will stay this way, I have no idea. I already had to move some things back to where they belong after cereal was “put away” this morning.

In the meantime,

What Are YOU Doing During Covid-19 Stay at Home Orders?

Today, I tackled some spots in my home. This is my Island and counter top. In my house I’m the only female, and live with a bunch of guys who never met a surface that they didn’t feel was perfect to be a dumping ground.

Kitchen counter before:

I will acknowledge that I put the purple flowers and the organizing baskets on the island. The flowers are now up on the very top of my upper cupboards:

This is what I’ve gotten done so far. Next week, I’ll show you the before and after of my pantry, which is what I purchased the baskets for. (at the Dollar Tree!)

My Factory Original Parts Are Wearing Out!

You all know that I recently had a total knee replacement on my right knee. Plus, the left knee still needs to be done. And, I have cataracts. Well, now my left foot is bad, too! I have possibly a torn tendon, nerve damage, a definite dislocation, and may have to have a hammertoe redone! I’m telling you . . .

Getting old is NOT for sissies!

Milestone Birthday!

My friends, this is what sixty looks like in my house!IMG_20170924_195933

Today is my birthday, but I actually went out yesterday for an early birthday lunch . . .

IMG_20180105_145356

Which was delicious! (yes, that soup is Zuppa Toscana  and the entree is Chicken and Cheese Piadina from Olive Garden, one of my favorite places!) I also went and got my nails done . . .

This is when I am warm . . .

This is when I’m cold!

IMG_20180106_194134

I just love the color changing gel polish! They didn’t go all the way dark, because I just ran cold water over my hands to make them cold, and by the time I got back into the living room for a picture, they were warming up!

I have a post yet to do about Christmas, but really wanted to post this on my actual birthday.

More Tangling!

Earlier this month, I took another class, this one on making Zendalas. Similar to zentangles, but round. We learned some new tangles, and used some we had already learned. Here are the ones I did in class, where we each did a traditional black pen on a white zendala tile:

and one on a black zendala tile with white jelly roll pen, followed by highlighting in our chosen color of sparkly gel pen:

I’m very pleased with mine, I thought they turned out well! Here is a link to dentangles, the blog run by one of our teachers, so that you can see the class zendalas for that day!

Definitely check out all of her blog, she has some great content! 🙂

One final thing, it’s been very busy here for the past few months, between moving, and attempting to get my own health back on track, but I am feeling some better, so I promise, no more long breaks between non-review posts. I’ll be trying to write at least every few days, I have a ton of photos to show you what we’ve been up to this summer! 🙂

Weekly Wrap-Up . . . Education for MOM! :-)

So, I have been exploring this thing called Zentangle for a little while now. When I first discovered it online, and read all the stories of people it was really helping in areas of relaxation, anxiety, even physical issues like shaky hands due to Parkinsons and other things, I knew I had to try it. Besides, it’s really, really beautiful, and you don’t even have to be an artist or have an art background to do it! I had been trying to learn what I could, from books and the internet. One favorite site is Tanglepatterns, which has an index of many, many patterns, complete with step-outs to show how to draw them.

This past weekend, I went to my very first Zentangle class with two Certified Zentangle Teachers. It was AWESOME! We learned ten different tangle patterns, and used them to make two zentangle tiles.

Here’s my first one, using patterns crescent moon, hollibaugh, printemps, static, and tipple.

During the second half of the class, we learned five more patterns, and made a tile using florz, hibred, ‘nzeppel, pokeroot and pokeleaf. Here is mine . . .
2014-04-18 03.23.23

In both sessions, we also learned about aura-ing on some patterns, and how to shade to give our tiles dimension.

One of our teachers, Dennie York, has posted all of the tiles the class made on her blog dentangles. Go give it a look, and check out the rest of her blog too, it’s just become one of my favorites! 🙂

This post is being linked up at Weird Unsocialized Homeschoolers. If you’d like to join the fun, write your weekly wrap-up and click the graphic below for the guidelines!
